Nerja and Torrox-Costa offer you the chance to visit the charming villages in the surrounding area. But it is also a strategic place to visit in one day, other provinces of Andalusia.

Enjoy festivals and fairs in Nerja and Torrox-Costa.

Each year, “Bicycle Day” is celebrated on the promenade, the February Carnival, Holy Week in March or April, the May Cross; in June the pilgrimage of the chief of San Antonio, with a rustic and religious celebration. The night of San Juan in summer, with the habit of spending the night on the beach. During the summer, the City Council organizes free night outdoor concerts, open air movie nights, popular folk shows and flamenco festivals, beach soccer tournaments, volleyball, basketball, aerobic dance classes or Zumba championships, salsa, tennis and paddel.

On the day of the patrons of Torrox, “La Virgen de las Nieves” and “San Roque”, there is a procession and you can see dances and fireworks. On August 15th, “La Virgen del Carmen” is celebrated, with a procession in the sea and the entire promenade.

The pilgrimage of San Roque: August 5. Fiesta de las Migas where a plate of typical migas with “rociera” salad and sardine skewers is offered for free. The medieval fair, The Oktoberfest. Autumn gives way to the great popular party of Torrox: the Fair. Before Christmas, it is the “Day of the Migas” party. Migas: the most popular dish among the people of Torrox, a local specialty to taste (previously poor dish in the mountains). The crumbs are cooked with shredded bread, moistened and fried with garlic and accompanied by sardines. Normally, it is accompanied by salad arriera (mullet salad) and a good local wine. Throughout the day, the residents and visitors of Torrox fraternize in a party where the performances of the artists, dances and traditional dances are for all ages.

Visit the region of Torrox, Nerja and its surroundings.

It is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding mountains, as well as all the small typical whitewashed villages in the hills, such as Frigiliana, Cómpeta or Torrox (cradle of Moscatel wine), the nearby La Viñuela lake. This is the region of the “Axarquía” and the “Costa del Sol”.

Torrox-Costa is 10 minutes by bus from the beautiful city of Nerja and its famous caves. And if you prefer not to move from here, you can enjoy the view of the canyon, the promenade, the lighthouse and the Roman remains.

On Mondays, there is a municipal market with products from the region.

Visit other regions of Andalusia.

On a day trip you can visit the cities of “Granada”, “Córdoba”, “Sevilla”, “Cádiz” and “Gibraltar”, and the “Ronda”, “Marbella”, “Tarifa” (beaches) Atlantic side very visited for windsurfing, “Jerez de la Frontera” and its equestrian schools with magnificent shows, wineries to visit, etc.

You can visit “Granada” and its famous “Palacios de la Alhambra”, just over an hour by car, with its “ski” station and its hiking trails on the highest roads in Europe !!!!. In “Sierra Nevada” you can enjoy the equipment, with beautiful slopes for beginners and intermediates. In winter and spring you can ski in the morning in Sierra Nevada and go to the beach in the afternoon !!!

“Sierra Nevada” is the most southern winter complex in Europe, it is also the smallest, but nevertheless it hosted the world ski championships in 1996. With many tracks of varying difficulty to satisfy all tastes. Many skiers are pleasantly surprised to notice that due to its geographical position, the air temperature is pleasantly warm. The ski season varies according to the snow, but generally it is from November to March.

El Caminito del Rey, the path of DEATH. The cliff of El Chorro and its “Caminito del Rey” is again accessible for the most adventurous hikers. It crosses the void in the south of Spain. The hiking trail “Camino del Rey” (also called “Caminito” due to its narrow dimensions), is located in the gorges of El Chorro, in the north of Málaga, on the cliff dug by the Guadalhorce River, with heights of about 100 meters in some points. His extreme danger earned him the nickname “the most dangerous road in the world”. Its total itinerary is 7.7 km: 4.8 km for the access areas and 2.9 km for the footbridges. The estimated time of travel is from 4 to 5 hours.

You can also visit the cave houses of “Guadix” in Granada, “Las Alpujarras” and “Almería”, and of course “Málaga”, its charming and historic city and “El Museo Picasso”.
